Students in third through eighth grades came together to compete in one of the most highly anticipated academic events of the year. These students previously won their class and grade level spelling bees.
3rd Grade: Bentley Reynolds and Camille Harris
4th Grade: Parker Brown and Lenzi Cagle
5th Grade: Chase Kniskern and Jack Moore
6th Grade: Corbin Kerley and Naaman Ballentine
7th Grade: Kevin Moreno and McKennon Hiatt
8th Grade: Chris Carlisle and Abraham Rivera
After three rounds and one championship round, 6th-grade student Naaman Ballentine won the bee with 8th grader Abraham Rivera and 5th grader Jack Moore earning runner-up status.
Naaman will go on to represent Mount Airy City Schools in the 2022 Carolina Panthers North Carolina Regional Spelling Bee presented by Bank of America on March 13.
