What is your educational background? I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a graduate certificate in education and environmental management.

Where do you teach?  I am a third and fourth-grade dual language immersion teacher at Jones Intermediate School. I teach science and social studies.

How many years have you been in education? I have taught for 18 years. I have taught a variety of subjects and grade levels. I have taught music, science, speaking, listening, English, and Spanish. I have worked with students in grades kindergarten through 12th over my career.

How many years have you worked in another career? I spent 20 years making music prior to teaching.

Tells us about your family. I live with my son, Miguel Angel Diaz, he is 10 years old. He is in 5th grade at Elon Elementary School.

What is your favorite part of the year and why? I love Christmas time because is a magical time of kindness, coming together, and joy. There's always some miracle that happens at Christmas and everyone seems a lot happier around the holidays. I love spending time with friends and family.
